Dr. Alphonsa Vijaya Joseph is the Principal at St. Teresa’s College (Autonomous), Ernakulam. She has over 25 years of teaching experience and specializes in Microbial Genetics. Dr. Joseph has a Ph.D. from the Department of Biotechnology, Cochin University of Science and Technology, where she conducted research on Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio vulnificus from Marine Environments. She has also discovered seven new species of mushrooms (Entoloma species) from the Western Ghats of Kerala and has deposited and registered them at Kew Gardens, London. Dr. Joseph has received several awards for her research work, including a CSIR Senior Research Fellowship at the Department of Botany, University of Calicut, and a FDP for Ph.D. at Department of Biotechnology, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Cochin (2010-2013).
